The Ox Cart is Rolling
April 2013

Lauraine Snelling's latest book, A Place to Belong, Wild West Wind #3 is here!  Ox Cart Trails Historical Society has most of her books on hand; so just contact us at the address/phone number below.  They are great gifts for the readers in your life.

Ox Cart Trails Historical Society has been busy this past year.  We gathered some of our old photos, and you can see them at Hastings Landing.  Such memories!  The city hall has been the latest project.  Our benefit at the restaurant in March was a huge success.  So far, we have replaced the roof on the building so it does not leak any more.  We installed a wheel chair lift so everyone is able to enjoy the many activities at the hall.  Next is the kitchen area, then the basement.  Would you like to help us?  We will remove a wall to enlarge the kitchen, paint, and add cupboards, and all of it could use your hands to make the kitchen project another success.  Call the number below to let us know what you can do for the hall.  A BIG thank you goes to B & S Construction and crew for the donated 29 hours in remodeling the stairs and adding a wall for the wheelchair lift project.

We still have copies of Bound for Blessing, the DVD of our 2010 stage production. This stage production is an adaptation of Lauraine Snelling’s Red River of the North novels and chronicles the lives of the Bjorklunds as they leave their native Norway and immigrate to Dakota Territory.   Live audiences were captivated, and now you can enjoy the story as it comes to life in your home.  The DVD was filmed at Drayton, North Dakota in July 2010 and was compiled professionally at Sundog Studios in Fargo.

With Spring here we will be working on getting the museum grounds ready for visitors.  If you'd like to help with something outdoors, don't be shy!

The next meeting of Ox Cart Trails Historical Society is schedule Monday, April 22, 7:00 pm at Tisdale Manor Community room.  We will be using this time to talk about society projects and times-gone-by in Drayton.  Join us for a cup of coffee!
