Society members assembled south of Drayton on Roger Weinlaeder’s land to raise and dedicate a sign pointing the way to the fictitious town of Blessing from Lauraine Snelling’s Red River of the North book series. Drayton Mayor re-read her April 2006 proclamation uniting Drayton and Blessing, Society President Marlys Boll read a greeting from Lauraine Snelling, and cake and refreshments were served. The sign now marks for visitors the area where Lauraine Snelling imagined the fictitious town of Blessing would have been located.
