A Homemade Pie and Ice Cream Social will be served on Saturday, July 16, 2:00 to 4:00 at H G Johnson Memorial Hall. As members of the Drayton Community Chamber of Commerce, we are happy to participate in the activities of Drayton Riverfest. Although we considered having an old-time picnic under the trees by the museum, for your comfort we will serve this lunch in the hall.

We have autographed Lauraine Snelling books, including many of her earlier works and Drayton’s 125th Anniversary commemorative ornaments available at our gift shop at Valley News and Views. All proceeds benefit the Society‘s many projects. Patrons purchasing any of our gift items are eligible to enter Chamber’s “It Pays to Shop in Drayton” contest and win $1000!

OCTHS members have been sprucing up the museum. The new siding was primed prior to placement on the building. It received a coat of paint with another coat to be added later. If you are interested in helping with this project, call one of the Society officers.

The museum will be open on Saturday, July 16, starting right after the parade until 5:00. Check out our new exhibit, “Cooking in the Red River Valley!” Other new exhibits have been put together for your enjoyment, but older exhibits are still there in case some of you missed them last year. Each time you visit our museum, you’ll find something new and intriguing. Throughout the summer, the museum is also open upon request by calling one of the Society officers. We are happy to show off our collections of interesting photos, histories and memorabilia from Drayton and surrounding counties.
