The Ox Cart is Rolling
August  2010

Ox Cart Trails Historical Society's Bound for Blessing, a theatrical production taken from Lauraine Snelling’s Red River of the North novels was presented in Drayton in July.  About 850 guests enjoyed the performances, most of which came from out of town.  We hope you didn't miss it!  The actors and crew did a great job protraying life as it was in the late 1800s.    Even if your ancestors are not from Norway, your family probably has much in common with the characters in this production and book series.  We really thank our director Wayne Stegman for a job well done!

Supper at the Soddy, a delicious homemade sodbuster meal served by members of Ox Cart Trails Historical Society in a period setting, was a great success at Riverfest.   Laurel and Lyndon Johnson from our Minnesota community entertained with live music throughout the evening.  What a treat!    The newly-completed log house really looks great.     It is all about your history and keeping it alive here in Drayton.

Ox Cart Trails Historical Society has sent items on loan for a display at the North Dakota Sports Hall of Fame in Jamestown for Drayton's Baseball Capital of North Dakota.  The Cinderella Team took part in an induction for the Cliff Cushman Award in July.  What an honor! It took a few years, but apparently 1958 was a good year for Drayton and baseball.  And, many of the Cinderella Team members and their families are also members of the historical society.  If you find yourself in Jamestown over the next 12 months, do stop in at the Civic Center for a look at the baseball exhibits.  After that, the Drayton artifacts will be brought back here.
