The Ox Cart is Rolling

The Ox Cart is Rolling!
October 2005

Lauraine Snelling made an unexpected visit to Drayton last week.  Visiting with her is always enjoyable, and we had perfect weather for a bonfire.  The Society is working on putting “Blessing” on the map.  Help us with this exciting project.

Ox Cart Trails Historical Society will be serving a Spaghetti Fund Raiser on October 22, 5:00 to 7:00, the same evening of the Drayton Knights Fright Night.  We hope you will come and join us for a good meal.  You and your family could take in the Halloween activities after the meal.

Quarterly meeting is Monday, October 24, 7:00 PM at the H G Johnson Memorial Hall.  We will discuss our plans with Lauraine Snelling and other activities.  Join us!

“Recognize Your Talent” will be Lauraine Snelling’s subject as our guest speaker for a banquet on April 27, 2006, 5:30 - mark this day on your calendar.  Advance tickets are available at $20 with tickets at the door for $25.   Earlier in the day from 10:00 to 2:00 she will give a writer’s session.  Cost for this session is $25, which includes the noon meal.  You may preregister by sending in your fee to OCTHS PO Box 263, Drayton, ND 58225.

The OCTHS bookstore in the Valley News & Views building will have Lauraine Snelling’s new books October 18.  These new books plus the Red River of the North series, Return to Red River series, Dakota, Healing Quilt, The Gift and The Dakotah Treasurers are available for you to purchase.  Some of these books are out of print, so pick up your copy before they are gone.  All these books are autographed by Ms Snelling.

“Paddling Through The Past” will be the event to attend in Riverfest 2006.  That is another event to mark on your calendar – the third weekend of July.  Did you see “A River Runs Beside It” in 2003?  You must not miss this one. If you are interested in helping with this production, contact one of the officers of the Society.

Help us keep the Ox Cart Rolling.  Check out the web site for more information.  The museum is open upon request by calling one of the officers.  www.oxcarttrails.net
